A weapon, howsoever powerful it may be, can always be superseded by a superiorone; but no weapon can, however, be superior to nonviolence and love. ~ Jainist Prayer
Be eyesto the blind, and a guiding light unto to the feet of the erring. ~ Baha’i Prayer
And theservants of God, most gracious are those who walk on the Earth in humility, andwhen we address them we say “PEACE” ~ Muslim Prayer
There are many weapons in the world today but probably the most damaging one is the weapon most people use without even realizing: our words. It’s been calculated that 97% of human communication is nonverbal, and yet the words we use have such power in our minds and in our lives. We hear them with our ears but we listen to them with our minds, and we replay them over and over again until they become a part of who we think we are. Whether the words are spoken to us or we speak them to ourselves, we assign their power and value in our lives.
Fortunately for us, the Jainist prayer reminds us that NO weapon has power over Love: not even our words. That got me thinking …if our words can be unconscious weapons, why can’t they also be conscious tools of healing and protection? Well, they can! It’s so easy to do, too – just fill your heart with the energy of Love and let that the energy spread over your whole being - but most importantly, over your mouth before you speak. It may take some practice, but eventually you’ll get to the point where your words – ALL of them – will be spoken in Love. That’s just the first step, however.
If we make it a conscious, daily exercise to fill our whole being with Love, then throughout our entire day we’ll live our lives through and in that energy of Love. Then, we will be that guiding light to and for others who will see it and feel drawn to it like moths to fire. At that point, it will be easy to show them how to do the same thing, and we’ll all be able to greet each other in Love and in PEACE!!
Just my thoughts for today. Thanks for reading them!
